I tried as much Shave Ice as possible in Hawaii and here are the rankings. In 5th place, we have Disney’s Aulani shave ice. This melted so fast and became one block of ice. So difficult to eat. Disney can definitely do better. In 4th is Matsumoto in North Shore. Melted slower than Aulani’s and was also difficult to scoop. As you can see, I needed help. 3rd is Waiola. They do have the softest shave ice out of all these 5, but melted too quickly. I know lots of people love Waiola, so we gave them another chance. Still melted very quickly. Guess that’s the trade off to having the softest shave ice. 2nd is Island Vintage. I will say they have the best natural tasting syrups. Meltability was slow, which is great, and it comes with yogurt or ice cream at the bottom, but idk about $11 and it’s not customizable. My winner is Shimazu. We tried them twice to confirm.
