Controversial Opinion: I don’t think advice like this is very useful. Hear me out… Let’s peel back the layers to the root of this suggestion: Impact to your belly (from something like falling) can be dangerous to your baby. This, of course, makes a lot of sense, but something that may be a likely fall risk for one person may not be for another. For example, snowboarding- I have been snowboarding for 20+ years. I feel VERY comfortable on my board and, if I’m being honest, slipping on ice while crossing the street in town feels more risky to me than cruising around on my board. Someone else who is not as comfortable on their snowboard may feel totally differently but they may feel much more comfortable doing something else that I don’t feel comfortable with. We are all different.
Why does this matter? Blanket statements about what we can and can’t do is incredibly disempowering. Instead, I’m a huge fan of understanding the risks and making informed decisions about what feels good and...
