November 20th marked the 8-year anniversary of my Dad’s passing, and, unfortunately, I also received word this weekend about the unexpected passing of a dear friend… I wrote some words about how I was feeling in my stories but after all of your feedback decided to give them a permanent place on my page: “Grief and Loss: I think any of us who lose someone close to us would give just about anything to have them back, but the reality is that it’s not an option. So what now? What happens after? I think healing is a personal journey, but for me, my dad’s passing was a reminder of how our tomorrows are not guaranteed, and it inspired me to chase my dreams and follow my heart. While I have continued this legacy in a lot of ways (like hiking the PCT), I have found in the last couple of years that I’ve lost the sentiment in my day-to-day life… and, honestly, I think that’s the part that matters most. So today, as I hold my Dad and my friend in my heart, I’m going to do my best to find my way ...
