But really, we had an unusually hot August here in Colorado and now all of a sudden there’s a crispness to the air… It still feels like summer in the middle of the day but the mornings and evenings leave a reminder that it’s all about to change. If I am being honest, I’m pretty excited about the transition. Late summer/early fall is definitely my favorite time of year here up in the mountains. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ As the season starts to change, I feel my gear and how I prepare for hikes and other adventures start to shift as well. Warmer layers and shoes that can keep my feet a bit warmer and drier. On one of my most recent adventures, I tested out my new Facet 30s from columbia1938. Ultralight and waterproof they were the perfect shoe for the muddy trail and late evening temps.
