The human body has an endocannabinoid system made up of different endocannabinoid receptors; CB1 and CB2. CB1 receptors are found in the brain and CB2 receptors are found in the body. CBD Binds to the receptors CB1 and CB2 and inhibits the enzyme, Fatty Acid Amide Hydrolase (FAAH), that breaks down anandamide. Anandamide is a messenger molecule that affect memory, appetite, pain, depression and fertility. Anandamide was actually named after the Sanskrit word ‘ananda’ meaning ‘extreme delight’ because of the good feelings it produces.
