On June 4, 2024, Mayor Whitmire joined CM Alcorn and presented a proclamation to The HeritageSociety (THS) in honor of their 70th anniversary. THS is a notable part of Houston’s history, dedicated to preserving historic houses that connect the past and future. Established in 1954 by Houstonians who saved the 1847 Kellum-Noble House from demolition, including Birdsall Briscoe, Charles L. Bybee, Faith P. Bybee, Ima Hogg, and others, THS continues to uphold the city's heritage.
