At the start of the 21st Monte Carlo Rally in 1951, 300 drivers set out from cities across western Europe. This documentary follows the race towards Monte Carlo, Monaco, as the drivers hope to secure their place in the final part of this famous rally. Over the three days and nights, the drivers report to regular check points within prescribed time limits. Once allowances for sea crossings have been made, the drivers' times are then recorded. The British contingent comprises around 70 drivers, most of whom set off from Glasgow, UK. Among them are Reggie Tongue in a Jaguar and Mike Couper in a Bentley.
Most of the 40 drivers who set off from Stockholm, Sweden, drive American cars, but Greta Molander has opted for a Swedish SAAB.
