It starts with glass, being inert, acting as a natural barrier against bacteria and not leaching chemicals into food and beverages. Glass is also the only packaging material "Generally Recognized As Safe" for food and beverages. And it continues with our commitment to meet high quality standards. Sixty plants at O-I are certified by high standards (FSSC 22000, BRC) that are recognized by the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI). The GFSI is a coalition bringing together 44 retailers and manufacturers and an extended food safety community to oversee food safety standards for businesses.
