Since the double header last weekend of Chicago to Boston, I’ve been recovering…hard. Eating and sleeping are the name of the game in my house and, I have been doing both like a champ. The exhaustion finally started to creep up these past few days but, by Friday I started to feel like myself again. I can sense a little pep in my step….just in time for my 5th marathon! This marathon will be in honor of Tokyo, which would have taken place yesterday. I’ve chosen to replicate Tokyo with a run on one of my most sacred training grounds here at home- Sauvie Island. Sauvie Island is the place where I have trained for 2 Olympic Games, dreamed of winning the NYC marathon, grinded out grueling workouts and given high fives to teammates after killer long runs. It’s where most of my dreams were built. When I pushed the last few miles of the 2017 NYC Marathon, my mind went back to these roads. The familiarity of all that I had visualized…all that I had practiced…helped me to remain calm and prote...
