I have this photo of this beautiful neo-classical house by thomasproctorarchitect pinned to the mood board in my office. A couple of weeks ago, I asked you all if we should paint the red brick on our new house. 65% of you said yes and 35% said no. While I like the red brick, seeing this image on my mood board was just the reminder I needed that I love a white house in my core and ultimately, fabianxcontreras and I want to do what feels more like “us”. The house was built in 1987, so the brick isn’t historic. I feel confident that painting it is the right choice for us. We also plan to run trellised Jasmine vines up the chimney and to make the landscaping feel more manicured. Now, the question is whether to go with mineral paint, a lime plaster and mineral paint combination, or traditional paint. Lime wash is not an option as I don’t think it’s the right look for this house. Though lovely— it’s like ballet flats. I like them on other people, but not on myself. ♥️
