As you surely know, the Kips Bay Showhouse kbshowhouse is an event near and dear to my heart. Each year, and now in 3 different cities (New York, Palm Beach, and Dallas), dozens of designers come together to design beautiful and inspiring rooms for the Showhouse whose primary focus is to raise funds for tens of thousands of underserved children. Sadly, the upcoming Dallas Showhouse has been forced to decrease the number of days it will be open from 30 to just 4 after neighbors in Preston Hollow tried to have it shut down all together. I’m not sure if these neighbors realize that by doing this, they’re literally taking precious resources away from children who otherwise have no way to access them— basic needs that they surely enjoy freely. As someone who has participated in kbshowhouse twice, I know how much it takes to bring a Showhouse room to life— frankly, a lot of time, energy, stress, and money on behalf of designers and sponsors.
