A state Superior Court granted the UC system a temporary restraining order against UC academic worker union UAW Local 4811 yesterday in response to the breach of contract lawsuit the university filed Tuesday. The restraining order will temporarily halt the union strike activity spurred last May in protest of police crackdowns on pro-Palestinian encampments across UC campuses. This lawsuit follows two university requests for injunctive relief that the state Public Employment Relations Board denied. The state court ruling, decided at the Orange County Superior Court, halts strike activity until June 27, around two weeks after quarter-system UC campuses end their spring terms.
