Multiple Kansas City homeowners are alleging they were scammed out of money by a contractor named Eric Eberhart.
Since 2017, Eberhart has been ordered to pay numerous companies that claimed he owed them money and three customers who alleged he did shoddy or incomplete work, amounting to tens of thousands of dollars in judgments, according to court records in Jackson and Cass counties.
Eberhart allegedly did such a poor job on one couple’s property that they asked for their money back, which they said amounted to $28,500. Believing they were ripped off, Kristyn and Nathan Frazee consulted with a lawyer, who said they would “win” on paper if they took Eberhart to court, but that the effort could prove pointless.
Eberhart likely wouldn’t pay them, like he hadn’t paid back others, they were told.
“Sadly our family has fallen victim to the biggest scam we never thought would happen,” Kristyn Frazee wrote.
