A few weeks ago we stopped at
@rupaulsdragcon in Los Angeles, three generations: my wife, mom, and youngest kiddo; and two of us Presbyterian ministers. It was so fun. There was a wonderful mix of pure joy, exuberant self-expression, and powerful political advocacy.
I am constantly surprised, heart broken, and enraged by assumptions made, violence perpetrated, and legislation enacted by those who are driven by fear, prejudice, and willful ignorance — and too often Christians.
As a Christian, myself, I celebrate and support those who are part of drag culture and for the joy and poignancy they offer to the world. The amount of hate, vitriol, and violence that they must endure is anything but an expression of Christian love, welcome, and life!
We were only able to be there for a few hours, but so glad to have grabbed pictures with OG Filipina Drag Queen
@ongina from
@rupaulsdragrace Season 1 and
@bombae, Canadian Drag Queen and fellow android user :-)
Until next time!
