Confession: I judge a little when I see public religious leaders, who are active and engaged on the socials when it comes to racism and misogyny, consistently make the choice to be silent and absent when it comes to homo/queer/transphobia. At this cultural moment in time, by never saying anything, so much is being said. Yes, I know that we all have different things going on in our lives, and none of us can respond to everything. That said, I do think that there are intentional choices being made by some religious leaders NOT to speak out about all of the anti-trans rhetoric and legislation at the forefront of so many cultural conversations. This is a dangerous place to be as I confess that I would not want to be judged by how much or how little I address certain happenings in the world.
