Thanks #WeeklyWord Every week I could write a prayer of thanks for someone who has poured something positive into my life. This week, as I approach the Christmas season, I am acutely aware of NOT being part of a church community that is filled with the activities of Christmas churchlandia. I'm not planning, leading, or participating in any way other than we are going to attend somewhere. Honestly, as much as I loved the creativity of the season, I am not missing the frenzy of expectations and activities that come with it. Of course, we can debate the import and efficacy of all the things that churches do around this time, but rather than wade into the treacherous waters of debating Christmas Pageants, Christ Candle color, or canceling worship on Christmas Sunday, this year, let me simply point out and lift up the many wonderful humans who offer so much of themselves to the life of so many churches during this season.
