This is what the God Almighty says: “Once again people of ripe old age will sit in the streets of Jerusalem, each of them with cane in hand because of their age. The city streets will be filled with boys and girls playing there.” — Zechariah 8:4-5
I desperately hope that as I age, I do not become more cranky and grumpy, but become even more open to the possibilities that God may reveal before us all. It has always been my intention to be wiser today than yesterday, and wiser tomorrow than today. My intention is to keep that up until my time on earth is complete. We’ll see how that goes.
In a culture that fights aging and romanticizes youth, I am grateful for so many in my life who have modeled getting old in a way that embraced shifting roles, shared power, and lived genuine encouragement.
