While many of us in the church say it all the time, when we say to someone “God is with you” I know that it is often difficult for people to believe. I know that when I am feeling apart from God, simply telling me to stop feeling this way does not work, and, in fact, may it make me feel even worse because I don’t automatically believe it.
To believe that God is near is an act of faithful choosing. For others, we can be present as the hands and heart of God, and maybe there will be a glimpse of the presence of God through our actions. For ourselves, we must decide if we will trust that God is here, even when we are not feeling it. There will be times when we will feel apart from or abandoned by God. We will feel lost, angry, and ignored. This is okay. God can handle it. But just as we hope that others will get a glimpse of God through ou...
