DAY 12: FORGETTING
#25WordAdventPrayers
But they deliberately forget that long ago by God’s word the heavens came into being and the earth was formed out of water and by water.— Peter 3:5
I often have a hard time remembering where I put my keys, so trying to remember every lesson of hope that God has for me in the world is a bit daunting.
But we must not forget.
In many aspects of our life, the seductive nature of comfort and security can often lead us to forget God is and was present then, now, and tomorrow. We must not forget how God has acted in the world over the generations. We must not forget how God has been active in our own lives. And we must not forget that God promises to remember us and always will.
Sometimes we get caught up in the pursuits of the world and move into a space where we place faith and trust in ourselves and not God. Advent is a time to remind ourselves that remembering God is a daily act of faith and trust.
