The purity wars! Ugh.
Arguably, one of the worst, most dangerous manifestations of Christian practices is when Christians begin to litmus test one another: in politics, in culture, and, of course in doctrine. We litmus test by how we vote on a particular issue, what we share or do not share on the socials, or how we may express a singular theological position.
Too many people claim that God loves everyone, but still hold a very rigid understanding of who is βinβ and who is βoutβ as if that is their job. We can each hold core beliefs, but if we believe that our particular slice of the Christian pie has been given the keys and the responsibility to determine what makes a true, pure, or right Christian, we are playing God.
So through it all, we can hold strong beliefs, but we must likewise also tend our humble spirits. We are many wonderful things but, God we are ...
