DAY 7: COMFORT
#25WordAdventPrayers
God tends their flock like a shepherd: They gather the lambs in their arms and carry them close to their heart and gently leads those that have young. — Isaiah 40:11
Comforting others is a tricky thing. Some people recoil from physical embraces while others hungrily feed off any and all hugs offered during times of turmoil.
During those times when signs and gestures of comfort seem warranted, how we receive and offer comfort must be done, not to make the comforter feel okay, but in a way that the pained may indeed know what it means to be comforted.
So no matter how you extend a comforting hand or gesture to one in pain, let it be one that is caring and compassionate all the while remembering that God promises to do the same.
God with us –
With the empathetic warmth of a genuine embrace
when our bodies and souls are weary and hurting
let your comfort be known, felt, and believed.
– AMEN
