Honestly, I do care HOW you vote, but also care THAT you vote and how you respond to the results of the vote. During this election season, as many of us vote and sit vigil over the next week, I offer this week's Weekly Word with a spirit of foolish hope and audacious conviction. May it help in some way.

In the face of injustice, violence, and pain
I will be heard.
through my marching feet on the peoples' pavements
through my righteous shouts to palaces of unchecked power
through my loving whispers into sorrow-filled hearts
through my co-conspiring spirit amidst a discombobulated world
and through my vote
I will be heard.
While many would hope that my voice, my vote, and my body would
stay home cozied up to apathy
remain silent in the face of violent injustice
abdicate my place in the body politic
give disenchantment the final word
and pass by the ballot box
I will be heard.
My vote will be woven together with others as we choose
to encourage a curiosity of the mind
