These comments from a teacher friend are being shared with permission in response to the recent @nytimes article that shared the experiences of parents as they deal with school closures. I've been involved in some debates about how teachers are being treated during these debates over school closures and I'm amazed at the vitriol that is directed their way. While I realize these decisions are complex — believe me, I know — so much frustration seems to be being taken out on educators. Look, the pandemic is terrible for everyone in different ways, young and old alike, and few of us are being our best selves — but before folks go to unload all the frustration and pain on those who are tasked with shaping humans for the future, I hope we can take a breath.
