In 2009 I had the privilege of attending inauguration of President @BarackObama. Not only did I get to attend the inauguration itself, but as the current Moderator of the @PCUSA I was unexpectedly invited to be part of the processional at the Congressional Black Caucus inauguration worship service. After scrambling to find a robe (Thanks @brianmerritt46) I was lined up, yep, right next to @DesmondTutu. While many in line looked around, through, and over me surely wondering who this un-vestmented young-ish Asian American clergy was standing next to the Bishop, he chatted with me with all the exuberant joy that we have come to know and love. This larger than life human, in the middle of one of the biggest events in US politics, saw me right then, right there. If we could all be so present.
