Dear pastors who are struggling,
Be kind to yourself.
Your struggles are yours.
Don't listen to those with, "suck it up" "you should be grateful" or "suffering is part of the job" advice on autofill.
You are leading people through trauma, so I say again — be kind to yourself.
I have certainly been feeling the weight of leading and loving the community I serve as of late, so also know that you are not alone in this.
When you start to believe that the doubt and uncertainty are all in your head, remember that many of us know exactly how you are feeling. We have all heard those voices and know the turmoil and crisis of call that can result. While this might be your exhaustion and trauma speaking, it may also be your integrity trying to make itself known.
There are no easy answers, but, if nothing else, trust there are people around you who are going through the same struggle.
Love yourself.
Love your people.
Remember that God loves us all.
Peace be with you, my colleagues and fri...
