Walking through the doors of the newly re-opened Michigan Central Station was like stepping into a living piece of Detroit’s history. 🚂 Originally a lively train station, it closed its doors in 1988, but not before becoming a cornerstone of Detroit’s history. It is moving so for many Detroiters because many families arrived here, soldiers left for war from here, and now, it stands as a testament to how far our city has come. 💫 @Ford Motor Company remarkable restoration work has not only revived the station but also embraced sustainability. Rather than demolishing and building new, the project focuses on rehabilitating and repurposing the existing historic structure, which conserves resources and reduces waste.
