🌿 Considered one of the most diverse areas of Bolivia - the newly established Puerta Amazónica now protects over 100,000 acres! Twenty-six different communities worked together to safeguard this place to protect their vital water sources from gold mining. Found along the eastern slope of the Andes, this region hosts an incredible array of climatic variations that foster extensive microhabitats, creating conditions for unique species to flourish. 🪶 Over 600 bird species are found in Puerta Amazónica - rivaling the total number of bird species in all of California! These forests also protect the habitats of unique species like Harpy Eagles and Giant Anteaters.
