Doski Azad, a 23-year-old transgender woman and well-known make-up artist, was killed by her brother in the Kurdish city of Duhok in what authorities have described as a so-called "honor killing".
Azad’s murder is a reminder of the dangers faced by those who identify as LGBTQ+ anywhere in Iraq.
“We all have a lot to say. We are frustrated and angry, but not shocked,” LGBTQ+ activist Zhiar Ali said.
