The hype had already been building before Ursuline’s Ava Papaleo (avapapaleo2026) officially made her varsity debut as an eighth-grader in 2022. A nationally ranked prospect within her class, she plays at a level well beyond her years. Since her first varsity-level swings, Papaleo has only raised the bar with each passing spring. Each year has been better than the last. Over the last three seasons, she rose up the ranks from all-section to league player of the year, then all-state, and now, All-American. She was selected to play in the Premier Girls Fastpitch All-American Games in Irvine, California, which will be broadcast on ESPN networks July 27.
