Completed in just 22 days, the Washington DC Convention Center Alternate Care Facility houses 400+ hospital beds and is poised to provide care for a surge of COVID-19 patients. In a partnership with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Headquarters, District of Columbia authorities, henselphelps, zgfarchitects, M.C. Dean, and Southland Industries, Coffman Engineers provided design and construction oversight for the fire protection and life safety systems. The surge facility will provide care for patients recovering from COVID-19 while freeing up beds in hospitals for critical cases.
