Next fall, Class of 2024 graduate Carys Blaney will attend Austin College and while she is undecided in her major, she is interested in studying sociology or statistical biology. She grew an interest in sociology after taking a psychology class and wanting to learn more about groups of people instead of solely individuals. She decided on Austin College because her mom went there and because the school checked several essential boxes. “I want to work and travel and go all over the world, and Austin College has really good programs for that,” Blaney said. While Blaney doesn’t think she will miss anything about McCallum, she will miss her friends and some of her teachers. She said she has also learned some lessons while in high school. “Ignore the social groups,” Blaney said. “It doesn’t matter who’s from where.
