Phil Melville knows what it’s like to live a double life. He spent years adjusting his language and behavior to “fit in,” feeling unable to openly express his true self. That changed after he attended his first PRIDE event while spending time in Australia. It made him realize the need to bring his full self to work. Since then, Phil has found PRIDE inspiration around him, as well as inspiring others, becoming co-chair of PRIDE UKI, and receiving a UKIMEA Inspire Recognition Award. His coming out experience wasn’t easy with some of his family members, and continues to be a challenge. However, Phil says that the warmth, support and acceptance he receives from friends and colleagues at HPE is something he will never take for granted. Family is not just blood relations, he adds.
