February 22nd is Human Trafficking Awareness Day. ⠀ ⠀ On this day we want to recognize that human trafficking and sexual exploitation continues to be a major issue in our province, with two-thirds of human trafficking violations taking place here. The average age of young women who are lured and groomed into the industry is 13 years old and 93% of survivors are Canadians.⠀ ⠀ In 2018-2019 ARIDO worked with BridgeNorth, an organization based in York Region that supports survivors of human trafficking and sexual exploitation to update their offices and create a secure environment for their work with girls, women, and families. ⠀ ⠀ Details as minute as the furniture selection and placement were carefully considered by the design team, to try and prevent triggering of clients.
