She said what she said. Ahead of her game tonight, Caitlin Clark was asked about her name being weaponized for racism and misogyny. Her answer was loud and clear, it is disappointing. It is unacceptable. Earlier, Clark was asked by reporters about the way people are using her name in the public discourse, Caitlin responded, “It’s not something I can control so I don’t put too much thought and time into thinking about things like that. To be honest, I don’t see a lot of it. People can talk about what they want to talk about, create conversations about whatever it is. But for myself, I am just there to play basketball. Everything on the outside, I can’t control that so I’m not going to spend time thinking about that.” Suns player DiJonnai Carrington seemingly tweeted in response, “How one can not be bothered by their name being used to justify racism, bigotry, misogyny, xenophobia, homophobia & the intersectionalities of them all is nuts…Silence is a luxury.” Just a few hours late...
