Now, I don’t know how much you know about the Dust Bowl, but it really blew. Literally. And also figuratively. The Dust Bowl was an environmental disaster caused by drought and destructive farming practices that stripped the land of its topsoil and blew it across the Midwest. Great-Grandma Frances used to tell our family stories about the dust storms that would come rolling across the plains. As they approached the house, she would run from window to window, stuffing each one with rags to keep the dust out. But it didn’t work.
