Happy World Wetlands Day! Did you know California has lost more than 90% of its natural wetlands? Here’s why that matters and what we’re doing about it 👇 💧 Wetlands support critical ecosystems and biodiversity. So, each winter, we flood a portion of our fields to replicate this important landscape, providing vital habitat AND nutrition for thousands of wintering waterfowl. 🌾 Last week, we invited our friends from landbasedlearning, audubonca, and members of our local community to join us for a walking tour of our fields. We saw an estimated 40-50 birds, but they’re only a fraction of the 230+ species who call our fields home! 👩‍🌾 What does all this have to do with rice? As regenerative farmers, we believe there’s so much more to farming than the food we produce. We’re part of a larger ecosystem and we’re committed to working in partnership with nature. Or, as Albert Lundberg put it, leaving the land BETTER than we found it. 🌎 🌾🦢 #worldwetlandsday #wetlands #bird...
