This week, I’m grateful to be partnering with onstarusa to tell my story about the floods and the resilience of the city of Baton Rouge. I’ve lived in Louisiana through hurricanes and floods. I’ve seen a lot of natural disasters that should've wiped Baton Rouge off the map. The floods in 2016 shut down areas of the city like I have never seen before. Whole neighborhoods were underwater and all I could see were just the rooftops. When the waters receded, I helped a family gut their house. It seemed hopeless. There was too much damage and not enough supplies or manpower... until I saw a city come alive. I saw strangers helping people rebuild what was washed away. I saw people donate clothes, food and hours of their own time to help those devastated. What I have seen over the years living here is this community always comes back stronger because people give back and help each other. Join the cause.
