Kansans rejected the Value Them Both Amendment last night, which would have removed the right to an abortion from the state constitution. Almost 60% of Kansans voted no on the amendment. The state saw record turnout for a midterm primary election. Voter turnout in Johnson County was over 53%. The number of votes cast there in this election was more than double those cast in the 2018 primary. While urban and suburban counties like Johnson and Wyandotte heavily voted against removing the right to an abortion, a majority of voters in rural counties like Osage, Franklin and Lyon counties also voted no.
