Catherine Laga'aia, a 17-year-old of Samoan heritage, has been cast as Moana in Disney’s live-action remake of the hit 2016 animated film. ⁠ ⁠ ⁠The film, which is set to hit theaters in July 2026, will see Dwayne Johnson reprise his role as demigod Maui.
