No matter your age, anyone could be at risk for #seizures, changes in the brain’s electrical activity with symptoms including temporary confusion, loss of consciousness, and uncontrollable jerking movements. They’re most commonly caused by #epilepsy, a neurological disorder in which nerve cell activity in the brain is suddenly disturbed. In fact, about one in 100 Americans have had an unprovoked seizure, and one in 26 people will develop epilepsy. So what should you do if you encounter someone with a seizure? Dr. Yongxing Zhou, neurologist at MedStar St. Mary’s Hospital (MedStarStMarys), explains more in our Live Well & Healthy blog. #LinkInBio #LiveWellHealthy #NEAM2019 #EpilepsyAwareness #EpilepsyAwarenessMonth
