Charlotte Sands, Download Festival 2024 REVIEW: There is no one more ecstatic to be at Download right now than Charlotte Sands. You can tell that this is a moment she has dreamed of, a bucket list occasion getting ticked off emphatically. And it’s because of that sentiment her set feels all the more wonderfully poignant. On the one hand, she has emphatically honed her craft, delivering a timeless sound, accompanied by her crystalline voice, that resonates with every alternative music fan. Yet, on the other, and more importantly, sharing these songs that exorcise so many personal demons on stages of this size feels like a huge step towards conquering her own self-doubt and worry. The same can be said of those singing back the words to the likes of ‘pity’ and ‘Alright’, clearly winning their own battles with those emotions.
