Sun, sea, sand and… shipwreck. It’s not every beach that has a huge maritime skeleton looming over it, but this stretch of shoreline in Greece’s mainland Peloponnese comes with added photogenic drama thanks to the unfortunate demise of an abandoned vessel in its waters. The Dimitrios, already long deserted by its crew, ran aground on Valtaki beach near the port of Gythio during a storm in 1981 and has remained there ever since.
