Congratulations to Manny Garcia ’90 as Inductee Spotlight for the Hall of Fame 2024 happening April 11 @ 9am. As a FIU School of Journalism and Mass Communication graduate, Manny is the award-winning Editor at Houston Landing and former Executive Editor of the Austin American-Statesman. Under his leadership, the American-Statesman’s journalism has grown into a Pulitzer Prize finalist, most recently for their coverage of the Uvalde school tragedy. Manny himself received the Benjamin C. Bradlee Editor of the Year from the National Press Foundation for leading the Uvalde coverage and made POLITICO’s annual Power List of 40 power players who shaped the intersection of race, culture, politics, and policy in 2022. His investigative projects have led to the convictions of public officials, changes to state laws, and his work helped free a man wrongfully convicted of murder.
