With his book, Media Reform and the Climate Emergency: Rethinking Communication in the Struggle for a Sustainable Future, Department of Communication Professor David Park, Ph.D. critically examines how advertising, the digital infrastructure, and journalism advance the climate emergency and lays out a path of reform to help create a more sustainable world.
In the short time since its publication in fall 2021, Dr. Park has received multiple international awards such as a 2022 Finalist in the Next Generation Indie Book Awards (NGIBA) Social Justice category. The book also received a 2022 Silver Nautilus Book Award in the Social Sciences & Education category and was the 2022 International Communication Association (ICA) Best Book Award runner-up in the Global Communication and Social Change Division – which was presented to Park during the 72nd Annual ICA Conference in Paris, France.
