Another Spring semester highlight:
#fiuCARTA Alumna and faculty member, Karla Kennedy, Ph.D. was featured in Miami New Times this semester for her life-long dedication to social change. Kennedy, who founded FIU’s first-ever official affiliate student chapter of the National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ), began working at FIU: first as a visiting professor, and then was appointed associate chair of the journalism and media department in 2019. She is also currently the CARTA Program Director of Online Learning. Kennedy hopes her position at FIU will inspire Black students to feel represented and inspire others to take action towards more diverse media representation.
