They urged leaders to ensure a peaceful future with renewable energy and cut reliance on polluting fossil fuels—coal, oil, and gas—which worsen the climate crisis and fuel conflicts. At the G7 climate, energy, and environment ministers' meeting in April, leaders failed to set a timeline to phase out coal and fossil fuel cars, and showed little ambition to curb gas consumption. While the G7 environment ministers committed to expanding renewables by 2030, stronger and faster action is needed—declare an immediate end to all new fossil fuel projects. Time is running out.
