And two, we’re here also to promote our campaign for an elected civilian review board that will replace the current Civilian Complaint Review Board--which is supposed to be used by citizens to complain against police misconduct. But what we’ve seen over the years is that not only are the complaints very rarely investigated, but even when an officer is found guilty, the CCRB can only recommend punishments. And, the police commissioner has the final say, so either the punishments get really watered down or nothing happens.
