Today’s terminology is UCHI UKE or in Shotokan, SOTO UKE. ⁡ In Shito ryu, the block is called uchi uke because the block is going TOWARDS the inside. However, in Shotokan it’s called Soto uke because the block STARTS from the outside. ⁡ Again, same with all the other blocks, Shito ryu will finish with the body facing forward, versus shotokan, where the body will be in hanmi. ⁡ Disclaimer: This is how I would translate the Japanese terminology.
