Yesterday during City Council Public Session, we presented a proclamation for the 6th annual National #GunViolence Awareness Day. This Friday, June 5, the City of #Houston encourages #Houstonians to #WearOrange in support of #GunViolenceAwarenessDay and urges all residents to renew their commitment to reducing gun violence to help keep children safe. Every day, 100 Americans are killed with guns and on average there are nearly 13,000 annual gun homicides, which is 25 times higher than the rate of gun deaths in every other developed nation in the world. Support for the Second Amendment rights of law-abiding citizens goes together with keeping guns away from dangerous people.#EndGunViolence
