HoustonMayor attended the grand opening of the Richard A. Anderson Texas State Veterans Home. #Houston is home to nearly 300,000 veterans, which is almost one-fifth of the state's veteran population. As a city, we take care of our heroes. As a nation, we recognize that #veterans deserve a dignified place to live. One that provides long-term care, after they have served and sacrificed on behalf of our great nation. The city of Houston worked with the Texas VLB to make this Texas State Veterans home a reality. About five years ago, the city tapped into $700,000 from the TIRZ’s affordable housing funds to acquire the 15 acres of land for this home. Today, it provides affordable living and care for #TexasVeterans, their spouses and Gold Star parents. As a grateful city, we can never do enough to show our gratitude to all veterans.
